Keep Forney Moving: A Key Element in the City's Strategic Plan
Economic development is becoming increasingly competitive. Forney
officials
and citizens understand this and have demonstrated a willingness to
indentify and address opportunities that will increase the City's level
of
competitiveness in the marketplace by participating in a strategic
planning
session last June. Through this session the City's vision, competitive
differentiators and strategic objectives to promote future growth were
outlined. The results found that a significant factor in achieving
Forney's
growth targets will be - improved transportation.
The Forney Vision: Forney is a beautiful hometown community of
opportunity,
mobility, and vibrancy.
This vision of the City takes the best of the current assets and focuses
on
future growth mediums such as mobility. Through the strategic planning
session several competitive differentiators were identified that will
enable
the mobility aspect of the Forney Vision to be realized: convenient
highway
and rail access, willingness to grow and improve and supportive
citizenry.
Improved transportation now comes in the form of several prioritized
transportation projects including: US 80/FM 548, FM 740 (Pinson North)
and
FM 741 (College). These projects were bundled into an improvement
program
titled: Keep Forney Moving!
